  • A psychological evaluation can be an important part of your healing journey in counseling. Often times it is necessary to use psychological assessments to better understand why you are thinking, feeling, or behaving the way you are. Our licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Ann Beatty, has thirty plus years working with children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults. Through psychological testing she is able to diagnose anxiety, depression, and attention/impulse hyperactivity behavior. Psychological assessments are helpful to clients who are experiencing emotional disorders. Clients who are struggling academically or in their personal relationships may benefit from a psychological assessment to better understand and identify why they are experiencing hardships and setbacks. Dr. Beatty will provide your treating licensed professional counselor with a diagnosis and a recommended plan of action to move forward in your healing journey.

“Answers appear when the problem is clear.” – Keith W. Henline

  • Risk Assessment is a program developed by one of our own providers, Elizabeth Troutwine, and is utilized by area courts and juvenile offices. Risk Assessments provide an overview of an individual’s mental health by using valid and reliable psychological measures. Her assessments are designed to be a thorough screening to assist in treatment planning or to determine if a full psychological evaluation is appropriate.

Substance Use & Addiction

  • Touchstone has professionals who are certified in working with individuals struggling with substance abuse and addiction. In addition, their certification covers addiction counseling related to drug, alcohol, pornography, gambling, gaming, and social media. Addictions are often hard to overcome and a support system that includes counseling can be the key to beating your addiction and finding a new direction in life.

“Rising from the ashes, I am born again, powerful, exultant, majestic through all the pain.” – Shannon Perry

Court Supportive Services

  • Touchstone’s owner, Dr. Cindy Baker, LPC, NCC developed an educationally based model designed to work with uncooperative parents raising minor children. It is most effective if the high conflict co-parenting sessions are ordered by the Courts; however, the model has been effective with parents who wish to resolve their differences outside of the courtroom. Dr. Baker’s model differs from mediation in that the process and results are transparent rather than confidential. Dr. Baker releases agreements reached by the parties to each of their attorneys, the guardian-ad-litem, and when appropriate, to the court. The overarching approach is extrapolated from her forty plus years of child development knowledge and experience. Unresolved issues related to the children are examined through stage theories including Erickson’s “Stages of Psychosocial Development” and Piaget’s “Stages of Cognitive Development.” Parents are apprised of  the best practices recommended for their minor child/ren in order to not cause harm.

“Instead of raising children who turn out okay despite their childhood, let’s raise children who turn out extraordinary because of their childhood.”

    – L. R. Knost

  • Therapeutic supervised visitations are conducted by a licensed mental health professional. The therapist acts as the facilitator of the visit and remains in the room with the adult and the child/ren. The interactions between the child/ren and adult are observed and a summary is provided upon request. This service may be court-ordered or voluntary.

  • Child C.A.R.E.© (Children at Risk Emotionally) meets the requirements for divorcing parents of minor children residing in the state of Missouri. Dr. Cindy Baker developed the curriculum for this educationally based class which is designed to instruct divorcing parents on ways to focus on the best interests of their child/ren during the divorce process. A certificate of completion is provided for each party who completes the class.

  • Please contact Kylea, Operations Director, should you need to hire an expert witness. Dr. Cindy Baker is a recognized expert witness in federal, criminal, family and juvenile courts in the state of Missouri. She testifies on subjects related to child development; domestic violence; and sexual abuse/assault; and sexual grooming of minors.

Mental Health Urgent Care

  • In early 2021 as anxiety and depression numbers continued to surge,  so did the numbers of referrals for mental health services. Touchstone was receiving many more urgent requests for immediate crisis care. Unfortunately, each of our professionals could not provide immediate care as our practices were full. New client openings were months away.  A decision was made to introduce an “urgent care” mental health model rooted in a triage approach for clients in crisis. Our role as mental health ‘first responders’ was growing exponentially and the new model provided immediate care for those in crisis.  The urgent care model was and continues to be in great demand. Our urgent care option is designed to therapeutically serve clients who are dealing with critical issues including but not limited to: grief/loss, suicidal ideation, severe anxiety, self-harm, trauma, etc.  Emergency appointments are self-pay and therefore are not limited to a 50 minute model of counseling. Crisis appointments may be 30 minutes in duration or up to three hours if necessary. They may be in person or virtual.  We ask that you contact our office to schedule an appointment time. We cannot accept walk-ins. A solution-focused approach is used and you will be referred to a mental health professional for future appointments once you are stabilized.

Coaching

  • In a world that is so chaotic and ever changing, it is often difficult to clearly understand our next step. This uncertainty can increase anxiety and frustration which only causes a cycle of stagnation and fear. Our Touchstone team can assist you in finding viable solutions in spite of external distractions and lack of clarity. Please let us be your compass and together we can find solutions that are true to you and your best outcome. Our services include executive coaching, life coaching, and mental wellness coaching.

Telehealth & Virtual Counseling

Telehealth provides you with the flexibility to continue your counseling sessions should you be unable to meet in person. We use Theranest, Zoom, and Doxy.me platforms which are all HIPAA compliant. Telehealth has expanded our ability to serve clients residing in Missouri who otherwise would be unable meet with us due to distance and/or lack of transportation.

Consulting

  • Our consultants are available to provide solution-focused education for anger management; parenting education; hoarding issues; conflict with co-workers, neighbors, and/or family members. Interventions are available for conflict resolution. By facilitating an intervention, our consultants can help participants identify their underlying concerns, within a discreet, safe, and neutral environment. By identifying the cause of tension, conflict, and detachment, the healing process can begin. Our consultants and coaches are invested in you. A solution focused process is designed to help you identify options and resources that are helpful in the resolution of your presenting concerns. Touchstone has developed a large referral network of resources that we can share with you to meet your needs.
