Laura Curtis, MS, LPC-S, has been a Licensed Professional Counselor for 13 years. She retired from 27 years in public education in 2008.
During her years in education she taught vocal/instrumental music, first, second, fifth, and sixth grades. From 1997-2008, she was a guidance counselor for both middle and high school.
Laura was also an adjunct professor at Drury University and Southwest Baptist University where she taught classes in Child Development Abnormal Psychology, Family Therapy, Theories of Guidance and Counseling, Psychology of Gender, Stress Management, Drugs and Awareness, Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Guidance and Counseling, and Human Growth and Development. She is also an independent facilitator for 9 Essential Skills for the Love and Logic Classroom in addition to Parenting the Love and Logic Way.
Laura’s vast experience in the classroom lends itself to a better understanding for providing classroom teachers with techniques that are effective and easy to implement. She has an innate ability to recognize children’s needs and developmental stages. Laura was certified for Trauma Focused CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) through Washington University, St. Louis. She is an Independent Facilitator of Parenting the Love and Logic Way and Laura is also a certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional. She specializes in ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Divorce Reaction, Anger Management, Low Self-Esteem, PTSD, and Parenting.
Laura is an experienced parent, step-parent, and foster parent. Her life experiences lend themselves to providing compassion and understanding of many life experiences clients are faced with in today's society.
