Laura Curtis, MS, LPC has been a licensed professional counselor since 2008.  Prior to that she spent 27 years in education.  During her years in education, she taught vocal/instrumental music, first, second, fifth and sixth grades.  From 1997-2008 she was a guidance counselor for both middle and high school.

Laura has also been an adjunct professor for Southwest Baptist University and Drury University teaching Child Development, Abnormal Psychology, Family Therapy, Theories of Psychology of Gender, Stress Management, Drugs and Awareness, Introduction to Guidance and Counseling and Human Growth and Development.  She is also an independent facilitator for Parenting the Love and Logic Way and Essential Skills for Love and Logic in the Classroom.

Laura was certified for Trauma Focused CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) through Washington University in St. Louis.  She is also a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Processional. She specializes in ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Divorce Reaction, Anger Management, Low Self-Esteem, PTSD and Parenting.

In November of 2019 Laura was awarded the Health Care Champion of the Year/Therapy Award by the Springfield Business Journal.

Laura describes herself as a lifelong learner.  “I see my role as vital to the healing of beyond skin deep wounds.  Other health professionals have experience fixing the physical ailments obvious to the human eye.  My role incudes identifying invisible pain, wounds in the heart, scar of the soul.”

Laura is an experienced parent, stepparent, foster parent and her favorite; being a Nannah to 7 beautiful grandchildren.
